MELIÁ WILL BUILD ALBANIA’S FIRST LUXURY COASTAL HOTEL

The Spanish group Meliá will build the first luxury hotel on the Adriatic coast of Albania.

The construction worth 42 million euros, is a work, which according to the Albanian construction company will start in June and will be developed for three or four years. The five-star hotel with more than 500 rooms will be located in the area of ​​Gjiri i Lalzit, on the Adriatic coast, about 40 kilometers from the capital Tirana. It will be part of an extensive tourist complex, in which the Albanian company Edil AL plans to build on a surface of 350,000 square meters covered with pines a series of chalets and individual apartments.

“The negotiations to bring here the Spaniards of the Meliá, one of the world leaders of the tourism sector, lasted a year. It will be the first five-star hotel on the entire Albanian coast, “said Ermira Brozi, representative of the construction company Edil AL, which has been operating in the local market for 23 years. The total cost of the investment of the Albanian and Spanish company in this tourist area, located near the main port of the country, Durres and the international airport of Tirana, is estimated at 88 million euros. Some 4.7 million tourists visited last year this small Mediterranean country of 2.8 million inhabitants.
